Workshop 05: Parallel Languages

Programme Committee:

Ron Perrott, Queen's University, Belfast, UK, Global Chair
Luc Bougé, ENS Lyon, France, Local Chair
Ian Foster, Argonne National Lab, USA, Vice-Chair
Seif Haridi, SICS, Sweden, Vice-Chair

Description:

This workshop provides a forum for the presentation of the latest research and results in the practice and theory of parallel languages. We are particularly interested in papers that address the implications for programming and languages of the convergence of distributed and shared-memory architectures, and the emergence of fast networks that blur the distinctions between parallel and distributed computing. We also encourage discussion of the integration, comparison, or evaluation of diverse programming models (task, data, object, etc.). Other topics of interest include compilers and run time systems, application-specific languages, and formal semantics.

Workshop 06: Concurrent Object-Oriented Programming

Programme Committee:

Gul Agha, University of Illinois, USA, Global Chair
Martin Wirsing, University of Munich, Germany, Local Chair
José Fiadeiro, University of Lisbon, Portugal, Vice-Chair
Benjamin Pierce, University of Indiana, USA, Vice-Chair

Description:

This workshop deals with all topics concerning concurrent and distributed object-oriented programming. This includes models, languages and techniques for concurrent and/or distributed object-oriented programming, object-oriented techniques to manage the complexity of parallel models of computation as well as object-oriented analysis and design of concurrent systems. We are hoping for a lively dialogue between researchers of theory (how to model, specify and verify) and practice (how to design and implement) in concurrent object-oriented programming and system development. There are commonalities with other Euro-Par workshops (#04, #05, #07, and #13, in particular) but, in contrast to them, we focus on issues of object-orientation.
